Where do the pets come from?
Public open data from shelters and governments, each with its licence and credit. Today Taiwan, parts of the US, Zaragoza and Vienna.
Every pet on Petnecto comes from a published source. As of 15 October 2026:
- Taiwan: every public shelter, from the Ministry of Agriculture's open data (農業部 "Animal adoption" dataset, Open Government Data License).
- United States: Montgomery County, Maryland, and Regional Animal Services of King County, Washington (public-domain open data). Photos stay on the shelter's own page.
- Spain: the municipal animal protection centre of Zaragoza.
- Austria: Vienna's found-animal list, which is for owners looking for a lost pet and is not adoptable yet.
Canada is not live yet.
The live counts, licences and credits for each source are at https://petnecto.com/sources, so this list may be out of date: that page is the one to trust. Photos are resized by Petnecto and credited to the shelter or publisher.
